Fit For a King

Friday is finally upon us so I’m going to write a totally frivolous article. Let’s talk about Pippa Middleton for a minute since her face just cropped up, as it does in the Daily Mail. Philipa of course is Kate’s sister, who is Prince William’s wife. Pippa was one that caused a sensation when she carried the bridal train showcasing of her supposedly fantastic backside. I would say it was nonexistent but whatever…. Since Kate is definitely the prettier of the two and snagged herself a prince, no doubt making her over ambitious mum happy, I feel sort of sorry for Pippa. With a face like Wallace Simpson, her choices won’t be a as good as Kate’s but you never can tell. After all Wallace snagged herself a KING. Now that I’m on the subject of Wallis Simpson, let’s talk about her too. Let’s talk about 40 year old, twice divorced Wallis Simpson. This was an interesting story. Legend has it that when she was born the doctor said she was fit for a king. I’d like to believe it. Ms. Simpson met Edward, Prince of Wales through one of his mistresses. Well, the mistress flies off to New York and that’s all she wrote. She came back and  Wallis and Edward were all hugged up. Edward was immediately besotted with her – it was all over for him. He was definitely hooked. At that point, all you do then is just reel them in, which is obviously what she did. Though plain, square jawed, and masculine she got her man. See, there’s always hope. Anyways, Divorcees were not accepted at court, and having one as queen was unacceptable. Needles to say, Edward’s parents weren’t happy. He did not care, however and carried on this scandalous affair with “that woman”, which amounted to slavish devotion on his part. She treated him like dirt and he seemed to like it. We all have our quirks and I guess being a slave did it for him. Some say she picked up kinky sexual practices in the far east which would probably really did it for him if true. Anyways, everybody realized that marriage was his intention. Sh**t got real when Edward’s father died and he came king. He was given the choice of the throne or his lady. He pick the lady and they married a month later where no member of his family attended – sad. They were given the titles Duke and Duchess of Windsor but were estranged from the royal family. What a warm, cuddly family. They met up with him every so often but never accepted his wife. Certainly they should have accepted her on the grounds that she made Edward happy but they are a different breed altogether as evidenced by Queen Elizabeth II – as warm and friendly as a glacier. Though Wallis was she was considered an opportunist by many, they were silenced when Eddie died. She mourned him for the 14 years she outlived him, saying Edward was her life, which I have no doubt he was.

Here’s an interesting article I found. Click here.
