Petrus Romanus

Now I’m not one to predict doom and gloom…. okay, yes I am but not without reason. It’s always for a reason. It’s only March 1st and this year has already seen prophecy unfold big time. Incredibly,we are watching it unfold before our very eyes.Whether you are Catholic or not, and I am not, yesterday was a historical day. With Pope Benedict XVI being the 1st pope to step down in the last 600 years, this is indeed an important event but not for that reason. I’ve been doing a lot of research because I don’t want to steer anyone in the wrong direction and want to be as informative as possible.

According to St. Malachy, an Irish monk living 900 years ago, the next Pope will be the last and will bring about the apocalypse. During a trip to Rome in 1139, St. Malachy had a vision of every pope that would ever be until the end. He put it all down in Latin and that was that. This is known as ‘The Prophecy of the Popes’. Conveniently, the text was ‘lost’ in the Vatican and didn’t resurfaced until 400 years later. It was controversial and the powers that be wanted it suppressed. We probably never would have even heard about this text had it not been for the Gutenberg Press coming about and someone actually wanting to print it. These writings could easily be dismissed as being the works of a madman but his predictions are amazingly accurate. I won’t go into all of 112 of them. I will spare you and I so I’ll just list the last 5.

#5 on our papal countdown is ‘Flos Florum‘ which means Flower of Flowers. This is referring to Paul V(1963-1978) whose coat of arms consisted of 3 fleurs-de-lis on the crest. Not terribly exciting but still accurate. A prediction is a prediction.

#4 is ‘De Medietate Lanae’ meaning of the Half Moon. This is John Paul I(1978-1978) This one is a tad bit more interesting since he was found dead sitting upright only 33 days into his reign. The official cause of death was a heart attack but I think we all know he was really poisoned. August 26, 1978, the day he became Pope the moon was in it’s waning phase, making it appear half full.

#3 is ‘De Labore Solis’ which means ‘Toil of the Sun’. The sun struggles to give it’s light during an eclipse. This no doubt refers to Pope John Paul II(1978-2005)  who was the only one to actually be born during an eclipse and entombed during one. There’s really no way of misinterpreting this one. He’s my personal favorite since he was Pope during most of my life and he seemed genuinely good. It’s kinda like me being partial to Roger Moore as James Bond. Okay. Moving on.

#2 is ‘Gloria Olivae’ the Glory of the Olive who is said to reign over the beginning of the Tribulations. This is Germany’s Pope Benedict XVI who took his name from the Benedictine Order the Olivetans. Their symbol is, of course, the olive. He came from the area I live in and presided over some of the churches here. My other half met the him when he was still a Cardinal back in the 70′s. Just to clarify, Benedict was the Cardinal and Wolfgang was an altar boy. I never date Cardinals, at least not anymore. For some reason I never warmed to Benedict. Maybe I miss his predecessor. Maybe because he looks like Emperor Palpatine. Not sure. It doesn’t matter now. He’s out of the picture, paving the way for the next Pope. On the day that he announced he would step down, lightening  struck St. Peter’s Basilica. Coincidence? I think not. Strange things are afoot and destiny is coming into play.

#1 is ‘Petrus Romanus’ or Peter of Rome. He will be the false prophet or the antichrist, depending on who or what you believe. Either way, he will bring about Armageddon. St. Malacy’s text clearly states:

In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations; when they are over, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible or fearsome Judge will judge his people. The End.

This means that the next Pope will lead his flock astray and bring about the destruction of Rome, the City of Seven Hills, then God will exact his judgement.

We have a few people candidates up for this gig. Ghana’s Catholic Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson is one frontrunner and would be a breath of fresh air but he seems too genuine to fulfill the prophecy. If he does get the job, expect him to get deposed shortly in favor of someone unsavory. Then again, he will come in the name of peace so it could be him.

My bets for Pope are on the rather Machiavellian Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro Evasio Bertone who reminds me of an old Will Farrell. Cardinal Bertone is running the Vatican until a new Pope is elected. This crafty man has something up his sleeve. Mark my words. He just gives me a bad feeling. Interestingly enough, Tarcisio is an anagram of Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus. History does a way of repeating itself.

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
