A High Fructose Life

Why on earth is everything I pick up in a store loaded with high fructose corn syrup? I steer clear of this nasty concoction whenever I can but sometimes I buy a product and realize that it’s there and I hadn’t paid attention to the label. Corn syrup is the main culprit of the world’s obesity epidemic. Look at us. We are getting bigger by the day. I like to think bigger and better than ever but that’s not really how it feels being overweight. I’m not going to tell you how fat I was when left the States. The problem is mostly in North America, with the UK close behind, but like everything American, it’s catching on. I have traveled through a lot of Europe and in France, of all places, I have seen some pretty husky kids. It is very disturbing. Food manufacturers have managed to sneak this crap it into almost everything everywhere, even into things you would think were healthy like yogurt. I was very irritated and disturbed a few days ago when I wanted to buy frozen chicken (don’t judge me) to have on hand. They all contained corn syrup. That just tells me to eat fresh regardless of whether I want peddle my bike to the grocery store every time somebody wants some chicken which my family seems to stay ravenous for. The food industry should be ashamed of itself. Corn syrup’s main purpose is as a preservative and to save manufacturers lots of money. They are lining their pockets with our failing health and corpulent bodies. Personally, think it should be banned. Anybody else with me here?
