The City of Light

Since I live in the middle of Europe, I have had several friends ask me about my travels, specifically France, so today I will indulge you. Let’s talk about France, Paris to be exact. I think I am the only person who had never dreamed of going. I’m sorta strange. I always had my sights set on the UK for cultural and historical reasons. So when I got the opportunity to go I had no real expectations. I just thought it was all hype, sorta like a movie that’s been plugged to death but falls flat nonetheless. We didn’t go to Paris right away. We took a few detours along the way and I could tell when we entered France. I noticed the landscape was different. The trees were noticeably tall and cylindrical. We stopped in a little city first to get headache medicine and I got a croissant at the bakery next door. They are supposed to be the best the world has to offer. They are not. At least that one wasn’t. Not to mention those french fools gave me kids medicine which I did not notice until I returned home. I was so disappointed the the first French croissant didn’t melt in my mouth and that the meds didn’t help my headache. There were much better ones in Germany. I found out that there are bad cooks everywhere and to have some more. I did force myself to taste test the croissants during my travels and I do indeed give the French bakers 2 thumbs up. It was for your benefit – you, the reader. I was thinking about you. I can’t have people running around eating bad croissants. That would weigh heavily on my conscience. Anyways, when we got into Paris we checked into our hotel and parked the car in a garage and walked everywhere. Let me tell you. It was amazing and I can’t tell you why. Paris has that je ne sais quoi. That certain something that you can’t explain. The language is of course beautiful and is even more so coming out of the mouth of a chic mademoiselle. Even when they are not cute they still have that certain something that no doubt all men love. I notice right aways that the women where indeed chic and cute like I had always heard. Regarding the weather, it was in February and chilly – just shy of spring. I was also pregnant but oddly enough I was rejuvenated but not enough to eat the escargot. I wanted to soak up the sights and sounds and especially the food :9 We went to The Louvre which is incredible. If there is any type of artwork you want to see, it is there. There are way too many types to go into here. I have pics that I need to post as soon as I can figure it out. I’m not used to blogging. I’m pretty new. During our trip to the museum My son acted like he was in the 7th circle of hell, moaning and groaning the whole time, managing to find a bench everywhere. Conveniently there was a Virgin Megastore in the lobby that he was threatening to run away to. I don’t think he full appreciated The Louvre and everything it had to offer except the Mona Lisa. I snapped a picture of the 2 of them and he made that same stupid face he makes in all the snapshots he tries to ruin. I’m just touching on a few highlights here. A simple blog won’t suffice. It needs its own blog if the true is to be known. While my other half was tied up in business meetings all day, I took my son out on the town. Me, my son and my unborn child went to The Grevin Wax Museum then to the Hard Rock Cafe´. The were all fluent English speakers and I immediately felt comfotable, especially with the Ramones on the screen and a plate of nachos – now that’s heaven. We also saw Avatar in 3D but I wasn’t as crazy about their cinemas. I’m used to the American ones and their’s didn’t seem to have the hospitality I was used to but overall it was an awesome day. I will try to cover more ground in the French Dept. of my bog in the near future so please bear with me. There’s just too much to tell in one sitting. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
