El Botchio

The internet world has been buzzing very loudly for a few days about the botched painting that is being dubbed Planet of the Apes Jesus. I myself can’t help bursting into laughter everytime I see it. The poor 80 year old was just trying to be helpful. Apparently her family and fellow chruchgoers are mortified. They looks set to crucify her. Is that a bad choice of words?  Other than those directly involved, I do not know a single person who doesn’t find this hilarious. Being a Christian person and loving Jesus with all my heart, I see nothing offensive about it. I think if  He showed up today he would have a good laugh himself. Nobody’s going straight to hell. I believe God has a great sense of humor. He has shown me countless times that he indeed does.

The original was a very obscure piece in a church in Spain. The vandal painter says she needed more time but I shudder to think what it would look like if she had. The church wants to restore it back to it’s former glory but I think it should be left alone. More people will flock to the church to see it and it has provided some much needed comic relief the world needs right now. I have been literally lmao (an expression I never use) for two whole days. In fact I would like an autographed copy to keep next to my bed just before I nod off at night. In fact, I think there should be a whole line devoted to this eyesore. I believe the church could really benefit from this whole fiasco.

I have seen it superimposed on the Last Supper, on toast, on a Bob Ross painting and a few other memes floating around facebook.  During my travels I have been to countless churches and seen countless religious paintings and none has given my soul such a hearty laugh ever. I’m not trying to poo poo religious artwork but it has never been my thing nor is Christian music, something which I always felt guilty about. I love good old fashion rock. If that’s the worst thing about me, so be it.
