All Aboard

What is it about Honey Boo Boo and family that everyone finds so fascinating? Is it their southern charm? Somehow I doubt it. Is it the disbelief that people like this actually exist? Possibly. Could it be that everyone loves to watch a train wreck? Definitely. We see tagedy in the making, yet it’s hard to look away. I will be the first one to admit, I have to watch. I have such a morbid curiosity and as they say, it always kills the cat. Jayne Mansfield immediately comes to mind for obvious reasons. She is a fascinating example of a tragedy. Jayne, from Dallas, Texas was the poor man’s Marilyn Monroe. She may have played the blond bimbo part, but that, she definitely was not. She had a very high IQ, spoke several languages and was a classically trained musician. She was married 3 times and had a brood of children. Her personal life, no doubt got more interesting when she got involved with Anton LaVey, leader of the satanic church in Los Angeles which marked her for the rest of her short life. They broke up and tragedy naturally soon followed. Her son was mauled by a lion – not sure why he was allowed so close to it, but still….. She then begs LaVey to take off the curse, which he did and the boy soon recovered. Then she packs all her kids, her partner, her chauffeur and a bunch of dogs into a Buick and heads down to New Orleans to make an appearance. She never made it. Her car plowed into the back of a tractor trailer, killing all the adults. Luckily the kids survived or we would have no Mariska Hargitay. Though Jayne had a bad end, it did save others from the same fate. The law states that there must be a bar on big trucks to keep another car from going under it. It’s called the Mansfield Bar. Next we move on to Jayne’s predeccesor Anna Nicole Smith and we all know how that ended. Anna was on a collision course with disaster from the beginning. A  Texan like Jayne, she had the southern thing down pat. She was big, blonde and bawdy. I remember when she married that 100 year old billionaire back in the 90′s. I guess she earned her money there. At least it set up her and her son. I think she didn’t do enough to protect him though from the toxic people she surrounded herself with. When she was alive she irritated me to no end. I hated seeing her or hearing her and avoided her reality show but when she died I did feel bad and wish it hadn’t come to this. Mostly I sympathized because she had to endure the death of her son right after the birth of her daughter. No time is good if you ask me but the killer chose a particularly brutal time. I believe somebody gave him a hot dose of something while he was sleeping. I have no doubt in my mind that someone wanted him out of the way. I also have no doubts about who was responsible but I’m not going to go into it here. I don’t need any libel charges against me. Then she was next – cardiac arrest in a hotel room while her boyfriend was out looking at boats – strange huh? Someone wanted her out of the way too I guess. Then her baby was motherless and brotherless and worth a fortune. This was the only time in history I have ever seen so many men claiming to be a child’s father. Luckily the child went to her real father and leads a normal life – kudos to him. I think the only reason she’s gonna make it is because of her dad. Sometimes things in life happen so what’s meant to happen happens. I wish I could say that is the end of such tragedy but it won’t be.
